If you’ve never gone surf fishing along the Florida beaches, you don’t know what you’ve been missing. This can be some of the most exciting fishing you’ve ever done. There are many different species of fish that can be found near the shoreline and many people are surprised to learn that some of them can grow to some very impressive sizes.
I had spent many years seeing people surf fishing before I ever gave it a try for the first time but now that I have done it, I love it. It’s a totally different feeling from fishing off a pier or even from a boat. I’d recommend it for anyone that loves fishing and searching for a way to make this sport even more exciting. If you’re interested in giving surf fishing a try you need a few good tips to help you get started.
Florida surf fishing tips:
• Surf fishing requires a larger rod than fishing from a pier or boat.
• Rod holders can help to make a big difference and make it easy to use more than one rod.
• Decide which species that you want to seek out so you’ll know which baits will work the best.
• The best time to go surf fishing is early morning and late evening for two reasons. This is when the fish are usually the most active and it’s when the beaches are the least populated.
• Learn as much as you can about the tide and when it’s coming in and going out because it affects the way the fish respond to your offerings.
• Make sure you have the right type of gear designed for fishing in this type of environment and rinse your gear with fresh water after each use.
One thing for sure is that surf fishing is very challenging but this makes it part of the fun. It requires skill and instinct to reel in a nice catch plus, a lot of patients. Still, it’s well worth the effect when you go home with a nice catch that you can be proud of.
